Yasuko
BIOGRAPHY
Yasuko is a New York–based journalist, broadcaster, and certified Japanese educator with over a decade of experience in Japanese television and media.
In Japan, she began her career as a local TV announcer, hosting live television and radio programs, including daily broadcasts and long-form shows. She later worked as a presenter for an NHK health program for nearly six years, followed by reporting for Fuji Television, covering news stories across Japan.
Now based in New York for over 10 years, Yasuko continues her work as a journalist, contributing to NHK news programs and serving as a host for Sakura Radio. Through her reporting and media work, she explores the people, culture, and stories that define New York today.
MISSION
Yasuko’s mission is to connect people through language, culture, and meaningful communication.
Her work is rooted in a desire to share stories that uplift and inspire, and to express them in her own authentic voice. Living and working in New York, she continues to challenge herself as a communicator across cultures and languages.
Through both her journalism and teaching, she aims to help others feel more confident, expressive, and connected — whether through conversation, storytelling, or shared experiences.
THE METHOD
Yasuko’s teaching approach is shaped by her background as a broadcaster and interviewer.
With years of experience speaking on live television and radio, she brings a strong focus on clarity, tone, and natural expression. Her lessons go beyond textbook learning, emphasizing real-world communication and cultural nuance.
She has also worked as a private tutor for over 20 students, teaching both adults and children. Known for her ability to bring out the best in people, Yasuko creates a supportive and engaging environment where students can develop confidence and find their own voice in Japanese.
